Operations Management is the business function that generates income and is therefore central to all commercial businesses. Operational Research is introduced on this module to support Operations Management decision-making processes. OR is a systematic and logical approach involving the construction and manipulation of mathematical models. The aim of this module is to take a general view of operations management in all sectors of business. This unit will enable students to develop competencies in those quantitative techniques and tools which are essential for the collection, analysis and interpretation of data in a business context. Focusing on a variety of business problems, the unit will demonstrate how quantitative techniques can be used to support effective business decision making.
